Jammu, Feb 12: Already in lime lights for all bad reasons, the authorities' at university of Jammu have reportedly re-employed one of their retired colleague last month. Source told Early Times that Professor Narinder Kumar Tripathy had retired from the department of Zoology in May 2014 and got reemployed in January 2015. "Formal interview for Prof Tripathy's reemployment was held on January 28, 2015", sources said, adding however, Prof Tripathy is close to Prof R D Sharma, acting Vice-Chancellor university of Jammu. They said that there was provision of re-employment for faculty members if in JU's offsite campuses. "But Prof Tripathy has been adjusted in JU campus", they said, adding that earlier, acting VC has rewarded the posting to his close aide. They said that there were number of senior retired professors who had served the university with dedication and could have been reemployed. "But the administration is focusing on only those people who were close to them," they maintained. "Prof Rekha Choudhary who had served the department of political science of University of Jammu and retired on February 2013, Prof D N Sai department of Zoology retired on April 2013, Prof Purushotam Sharma, department of Sanskrit retired on April 2013, Prof Nusrat Ara Choudhary department of Urdu retired on March 2013, Prof Lokesh Verma department of Education retired on March 2013, Prof Rakesh Mishra department of Buddhist Study retired on October 2013, Prof Sharda Gupta department of Sanskrit retired on October 2013, Prof Kulwant Kaur department of Political Science retired on March 2014, Prof SK Khosa department of Physic retired on February 2014, Prof Deepshikha Kotwal department of English retired on February 2014 and Prof Shashi Manhas department of Dogri are among those retiree faculty members of the varsity who had served the University with dedication and their further contribution would nourish the scholars and students why were they ignored? They asked the JU administration. They said that if the administration was really serious and re-employment was made for the betterment of the University then why above mentioned professors were not re-employed. Dr Roopma Gandotra, Professor and Head Department of Zoology, University of Jammu when contacted said that process of re-employment is nothing unusual. "It happens in Kashmir University, we have planned to utilize the services of retire faculty members", she said, adding that the decision of re-employ Prof NK Tripathy was taken in the meeting held recently. |
