JAMMU, Feb 12: PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a couple of days to cement the power sharing agreement in Jammu and Kashmir.
Highly placed sources today said that Sayeed will be flying to Delhi in a day or two to sign the power sharing agreement in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti who was scheduled to fly to Delhi today from Srinagar, landed in Jammu this afternoon to have a final word with senior Mufti in presence of a highly respectable person who is mediating the power sharing agreement between PDP and BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said the interlocutor arrived in Jammu last evening to have a one-on-one meeting with Mufti before the PDP leaders fly to Delhi for finalization of the Common Minimum Progr-amme. Sources said there was a last minute change in the program according to which Mehbooba was required to attend the meeting at Jammu. Sources said the interlocutor had two rounds of meeting with the Muftis during the day before other senior leaders of the party joined them. They said the draft proposal of the power sharing agreement which has already been approved by the BJP leadership was discussed and approved by the Muftis today paving way for Mufti visit to Delhi to formally sign the agreement. Sources said the government formation may take place anytime after Sunday but it will not be deferred beyond February 23.
Sources said Mehbooba, Muzaffer Husain Baigh and other senior leaders will leave for Delhi tomorrow for a formal meeting with the BJP leadership before the Prime Minister Narindra Modi and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will sign the agreement. As reported earlier Mufti would be the chief minister of the alliance for full six years. The PDP has 28 and the BJP 25 seats in the state assembly. Last week, Mufti had asserted that the two parties will work "shoulder-to-shoulder" to provide good government to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
