JAMMU, Feb 12 : The Economic Reconstruction Agency ,J&K implementing agency for the construction of flyover from Bikram Chowk to Convent school, today organized a workshop for various stakeholders to discuss the traffic management and diversion plan related to the project.
Chief Executive Officer J&K ERA, Tehseen Mustafa gave a brief resume of the project and informed that the ambitious project having an estimated cost of Rs 67.45 crores will help in smooth flow of traffic and reduce travel time and distance. He said that a Traffic Management and diversion plan (TMP) has been devised to cope with road traffic disruptions likely to be encountered with the commencement of work on flyover and road widening on 1.5 km stretch of road from Bikram Chowk to Convent School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
He said that the main objective of this proposed TMP is to ensure the safety of all the road users along the work zone and to address the issues like safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists travelling through the work zone, Protection of work force engaged in construction from dangers associated with moving traffic. He stressed for synchronized action from all the concerned agencies.
Project manager ERA, Shakti Sagar gave a detailed presentation regarding the proposed traffic management plan. The workshop was attended by MLAs elect Mr. Kavinder Gupta, Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Director Information J&K, Mr. Mukhtar-ul-Aziz, DIG Traffic Jammu Mr. Ashkoor Wani, senior officers of civil administration and police, and prominent citizens. |
