DC reviews Encroachment Removal, Grievances Redressal

Kathua, Feb 12: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary convened a meeting for revenue officials for finalising strategy to remove encroachments from state lands, common and departmental lands, and improvise grievance redressal system in the district.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Atul Gupta, SDM Basohli Gurmukh Singh, SDM Billawar Rajeev Charak, SDM Hiranagar Sonhan Lal, SDM Bani Anway Badey, HQA to DC, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdwars and Patwaris of Hiranagar, Nagri, Dinga-Amb, Marheen and Kathua Tehsils attended the meeting.
A detailed resume of encroachens on state lands, common lands, departmental lands was presented in the meeting.
The DC directed the Revenue Officers to initiate removal of identified encroachments and also initiate action against delinquent officers and departments in such cases where the departments have abandoned their lands or buildings making them liable for encroachments. He also called for planned drive for removal of encroachments from state land and common lands which have been identified after a month long process.
Dr Shahid issued instructions for comprehensive survey of all government departmental lands and assets and their entry in revenue records. Departments have been asked to furnish papers and inventory of their lands, buildings, roads and other assets within a period of 10 days. Profiling of officers and officials negligent towards land encroachment is also being done. He also heard the grievances of revenue officials and assured their speedy redressal.
Patwaris have been directed to remain available in patwar halqas and not to leave station without permission of Tehsildars.
They shall also be available at designated patwar halqas 2 days in a week. Monthly meetings with Lumberdars, Chowkidars, Panchs, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens shall be held at patwar halqa level which will be monitored by Tehsildars. Grievances related to essential services and departments, various problems faced by local people and developmental issues will also be attended by officials.
Administration has also appointed 19 nodal officers for various blocks for grievance redressal and inspection of attendance in offices and institutions.
