rajouri, Feb 12: Alleging inordinate delay in relief distribution, flood affected people in several villages in far remote localities in Budhal tehsil of Rajouri districts still are holding protest demonstrations against the tehsil / district administrations and said that many among them have either not received relief material or financial help towards the losses to their houses/cattle sheds. Farooq Inqalabi a prominent social worker of the area who led the series of protests today said that some blue eyed / and relatives of the revenue officials , who have suffered no loss to their properties/ crops , have been provided the relief benefits while many genuine and poor victims have been left out. Alleging mismanagement and discrimination with poor and real flood victims meted out by the concerned officials, these flood affected led by Farooq Inqalabi, Neeraj Sharma, sarpanch held a protest demonstration before the office of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at Kotranka today. Farooq said that the victims have fed up with the hollow promises of the concerned officials for the last many months. "Now they decided to continue their protest before the office of SDM from today on wards till their demands are not fulfilled" said Farooq. Sukhpal Singh, SDM , Kotranka when contacted by Early Times briefly denied all the allegations of the people and said, " All the files related to the flood victims were prepared by 14 members committee including representatives from Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Flood and Irrigation etc and November 9, 2014 was the last date to include the names in the flood victims beneficiaries list. He added that as per official records some 400 files were rejected by the concerned authorities as their claims were made on the state/ forest lands and Evacuee Property and such people have been making hue and cry over the issue. "While others were asked to produce genuine records of their claims but nobody came forward. Financial assistance worth Rs 1.25 crores and relief material have already been distributed among the flood victims and no case is pending with his office," he said. Giving a benefit of doubt to protestors, he said the concerned revenue officials have been directed to recheck for any genuine case is left and report to higher authorities for necessary action. Government has released Rs 76000 for fully damaged houses, Rs 12600 for severaly and Rs3800 for partially damaged pucca houses while Rs 17600 have been given for fully damaged Kachha houses, Rs3800 for severely damged and Rs2300 for partially damaged Kachha houses. |
