Kashmiri PhD scholar commits suicide in Hyderabad, police initiates probe | Youth commits suicide in Rajouri Kadal, man found dead in Tral | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 20: A scholar belonging to Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the subject of Economics in Hyderabad committed suicide. Police has launched investigations in the case so that any foul play is ruled out. A spokesman of Jammu & Kashmir Police said that a PhD scholar namely Tariq-ul-Islam, resident of Ganderbal ended his life in Hyderabad by hanging himself at a hostel room. The police spokesman while quoting Hyderabad police said that last night Tariq-ul-Islam son of Ghulam Mohammad Dhobi resident of Dhobipora, Ganderbal, a PhD Economics scholar at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad came to meet his two friends Tauseef Ahmad, resident of Barsoo-Awantipora, Pulwama and Sajad Ahmad Bhat resident of Yaripora, Kulgam both students of MA of Central University, Hyderabad at their hostel. "After spending the night with his friends in the hostel, today Tariq went to offer prayers in a nearby room. After sometime, his friends called him but he didn't respond. They found the door bolted from inside. The door of the said room was forcibly opened and they found Tariq hanging," said the police spokesman. The police spokesman said that Police Station Gachi Golie, Hyderabad was informed and the body of the deceased was taken for medico-legal formalities. A case was registered in the police station and investigation has been taken up. "Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the deceased has apparently committed suicide. Jammu & Kashmir Police is in constant touch with the Hyderabad police authorities in this regard,' said the police spokesman. Meanwhile, a youth was found hanging in Srinagar while a lady attempted to end her life in Kupwara last evening. A police spokesman said that 20 years old Faizan Yusuf son of Mohammad Yusuf resident of Sokalipora-Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar was found hanging at his home. He said that police has started investigation under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of his death. After conducting all medico legal formalities the body of deceased youth was handed over to his relatives for last rites. The police spokesman said that a lady (name withheld) resident of Dildar-Bhatpora, Karnah Kupwara in an attempt to end her life consumed some poisonous substance at her home. The lady was shifted to Tangdar hospital for treatment. Police Karnah has registered a case in this regard. At the same time a person was found dead in suspicious circumstance in his car in Tral last evening. "42 years old Mohammad Rafiq Rather son of Mohammad Akbar Rather resident of Buchoo, Tral was found unconscious in his Maruti Car bearing registration number JK01D-7734 parked at the road side at village Lurgam-Tral. He was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Tral by some locals where doctors declared him brought dead," said the police spokesman. The police spokesman said that Tral Police has started investigation under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of his death. Police after completing all medico legal formalities handed over the body of deceased to her relatives for last rites. |
