Swine Flu outbreak alarming, check hoarding of antiviral drug: Hamid Choudhary | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 20: Expressing his grave concern over rising number of deaths due to Swine Flu in Jammu and Kashmir State, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Choudhary Hamid asked the health authorities to adopt extra watchfulness and if need arise coordinate with educational authorities to sanities all institutions as a precautionary measure to save children from getting caught by this virus. Despite assurances by the doctors the situation, he observed continues to be alarming. In his statement issued here Choudhary Hamid asked said that four deaths have been reported in the state and over 84 H1N1 fresh cases have been confirmed besides 13 more patients have been tested positive in Kashmir Valley alone. There are also reports that hospitals are running short of medicines and ventilators besides designated ward at Chest and Diseases hospital in Srinagar has not been made functional. Choudhary said that tough Governor N N Vohra is regularly monitoring the health care facilities with regards to swine flu in the state yet he authorities and people in general will also have to be responsive enough to deal with the situation. Without their cooperation nothing much would be achieved. He also asked the government to spread a word about the disease widely through all mediums of communication so that more and people know about the symptoms, treatment available and precautions to be adopted beforehand. |
