HM terror hideout busted in Doda, war like store recovered | | | Early Times Report
DODA, Feb 20 : In a joint anti insurgency operation, the security forces today busted a hideout believed to belong to one of the hardcore Hizbul Mujahddin (HM) militant with and recovered a huge haul of arms and ammunition from a remote area of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Acting on specific information, Delta Force alongwith one SI, six personnel of JKP, and one Assistant Commandant, one SI and 10 OR of 42 Battalion SSB Gundoh, launched a swift and surgical joint search operation in Amrai Nala near Chilli area in Doda district and busted a cache, Defence spokesperson Jammu Lt Col Munish Mehta said. "The recovered arms are likely to belong to one of the hardcore Hizbul Mujahddin terrorist of the area active in the past, which could have been hidden for later usage. An encounter in December 2009, resulting in elimination of two hardcore Hizbul Mujahddin terrorist in the general area is a testimony that the area was infested with terrorists of various terrorist Tanzeems, he added. "The arms and ammunition was well concealed in a natural cave of size approx 11x10 Feet, Col Mehta said and added, "The recovery included one AK- 47 rifle, four 12 Bore Rifles, one Pistol, four AK-47 Magzines, two SLR Magzines, 150 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47, 100 Rounds of 7.62mm Assorted Ammunition, one Chinese Hand Grenade, one Pouch, one Pressure Stove and one Blanket." He said that the recovery of war like stores was possible only due to the accurate intelligence developed by the Army and launching of well synchronized joint operation with police and CAPF in harsh weather conditions and busting hideout in 48 hours. "The recovered arms were handed over to the police station, wherein a FIR has been lodged, he added. He said that the recovery of a huge cache has given a major success to the Security Forces and a massive blow to the terrorists in the area thereby preventing the arms and ammunition from falling into the hands of inimical elements. |
