MDM pilferage: Alert people catch hold of teacher selling MDM ration in market | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 20 : The alleged misappropriations in Mid Day Meal scheme today became apparent when alert people caught a government school teacher red handed when he was allegedly selling about one quintal of rice of Mid Day Meal (MDM) ration in the black-market. "The teacher identified as Mohd Qayoom posted at government high school at Kala Jhangar was caught red handed by the inhabitants including Panchyat Members of the village and they also recovered the bag of rice while teacher managed to give a slip, sources said. They said, "The matter was brought into the notice of Chief Education Officer (CEO) at Rajouri by the sarpanch of the village on telephone at about 9.00 am today morning and CEO has constituted a three member team to investigate the matter." Sources said that sarpanch and other members of the village caught red handed one teacher Mohd Qayoom of high school while selling MDM rice in the market. The rice bag is reportedly in the custody of the panchyat members while teacher managed to escape. Sources added the inquiry team will be headed by Sallha Mohd, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka and will be assisted by Bishamber Dass and Shabir Ahmed, principals of government higher secondary schools Behrot and Kandi respectively. When contacted Bashir Ahmed, SHO, Police Station Kotranka said that the matter has not been brought into the notice of police and once a complaint in this regard will be lodged accordingly action will be taken. Suresh Kumar, District Planning Officer (DPO) Education said that fax has been sent to the ZEO, Kotranka for necessary action in this matter and the team has started the investigation. "A suitable action under law will be taken against the accused teacher, if found guilty" said CEO. |
