Nationwide launching of soil health card scheme webcasted in Doda | | | Early Times Report DODA, Feb 20: To ensure the issuance of soil health cards to farmers and to aware them of the quality of soil and right use of fertilisers, the launch of Soil Health Card scheme of Ministry of Agriculture Government of India on Prime Minister of India was yesterday webcasted at NIC Doda in which more 35 progressive farmers from different areas of the District participated . Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Kumar said that the Soil Health Cards to be issued to the farmers under the scheme are based on the principles of the ration card besides provide permanent identification and status of the land to farmers. These details and advice on handling particular kinds of soil are then handed over to the farmers to serve as a guiding tool during sowing. While addressing the progressive farmers, Chief Agriculture Officer Doda H. K Razdan said that based on free in-depth soil studies, the Soil Health Cards list the vital components of a particular patch of land. They provide detailed information on various minerals present on the land, suitable crops, fertilisers to be used, and also whether the land is acidic or alkaline. The scheme will help in keeping a check on overuse of fertilisers on farm land and will benefit all the farmers he further said. |
