Jammu, Mar 16: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Jammu and Kashmir regional office organized a State Credit Seminar for 2015-16 on 16 March 2015. The seminar was inaugurated by N N Vohra, Governor, Jammu & Kashmir who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion. While releasing State Focus Paper-2015-16 Governor, Jammu & Kashmir highlighted the importance of Agriculture & MSME Sectors for sustainable development and economic growth in the State. He impressed upon the financial institutions to expand required credit in State especially to the farmers as also for boosting MSME sector in a focussed manner. He exhorted bankers to improve C D Ratio from present level of 46% to the ideal level of atleast 60% in 2015-16. He advised the banks to extend timely, adequate and hassle free credit as per the potential identified by NABARD in the State Focus Paper. He advised banks to ensure credit for all sub-sectors such as Irrigation, Horticulture, Floriculture, Dairy, Poultry, Agro Storage/ Processing, Sheep Farming and also handlooms & Handicrafts activities which are crucial for economic development of the State. CGM, NABARD also informed that NABARD has launched five Area Development Scheme (ADS) in five districts for financing Dairy Developmentand exhorted banks to launch similar interventions in other sectors and districts. He also highlighted that NABARD has supported promotion of 9 Farmers' Producers' Organisations' and over 1200 JLGs of Bhoomi Heen Kisans through NGOs, SKUAST and KVKs. Exposure visits for farmers were also supported within and outside State. |
