Jammu, Mar 16: Though the state coalition government has approved the appointment of Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) but it is unlikely to conduct the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive (preliminary) examination, in March due to delay in finalization of sitting arrangements across state.
JKPSC had earlier decided to conduct the preliminary examination on March 1 but headless commission had to change the date to February 21.
"Earlier, there were reports that due to commission being headless, scheduled preliminary exam on March 1, was postponed but now though the appointment of Commission Chairman has been approved but there is no possibility of conducting exams in March as PSC authorities are yet to hear from administration of colleges and schools for making examination centers for nearly 25,000 applicants", sources said.
Earlier the PSC authorities, sources said, had got full accommodation in various colleges and schools, after which it had decided to conduct exam on March 1 but now the PSC has been facing hurdles to get accommodation.
Sources further said that PSC has written to various government colleges and schools for furnishing details of accommodation availability. "We are hoping that within a week the decision regarding conducting of preliminary exam will be taken and there are no possibilities of conducting exam in March month", sources said. Sources further said that state government has approved the names of members and Chairman of commission but the formal appointment would take time. "The file of PSC appointments will be forwarded to Governor for his nod, after which members with be administered oath", sources said, adding that it would consume atleast one fortnight and there were reports that PSC would only conduct the preliminary exam after nod of Chairman.
Pertinently, according to notification issued on January 8, 2014, PSC/Exam/KAS (Pre)/2014 issued by JKPSC, it had been announced that the preliminary Examination which was postponed earlier shall now be held on 1/March 2015 (Sunday) but on February 21, another notification was issued, postponing the examination, till further orders but till date no order has been issued, leaving candidates in lurch. |
