Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 16: The medico-minister tiff on dress code that has hit the banner lines in Jammu media is likely not to reach any conclusion until an outcome is reached.
While the 'hurt' female doctor Gurmeet Kour talking to Early Times has said that she won't be bogged down until she receives the justice, the Minister of Health and Medical Education Lal Singh has clarified that he had done nothing wrong except telling the doctor to wear the apron.
In a press conference given by the minister today, Lal Singh has said that he is bound by his ethical duty to provide good medical care to the patients. In this regard, he said that since he had only directed the medico to wear apron which is the dress code of distinction between the patient and the doctor and he carries no grudges against her.
The minister also said that he would carry on his duties with great transparency and ensure that the patients may receive the best health care under his regime.
He also quoted certain examples of his valor in the health department in his earlier stint and said that it was the love of the people of the state as well as God that he has been entrusted with the same job again that the health care of the state may get 100 % results under his tenure.
The minister dismissed the queries on his alleged misbehavior with the female lady doctor and said he does not cares if she moves the court or takes any step .
"I have given my verdict on the case and have nothing more to say on the incidence . It was a routine one. I want discipline and sanctity in the health department and will ensure that it is adhered to," said Lal Singh while avoiding questions on Gurmeet Kour case.
Meanwhile Gurmeet Kour said that that she does not cares what the minister says or not in my case, but I will chase this case to the court and seek justice from the law.
"I once again repeat my stand on the issue that a psychiatric doctor is not prescribed to wear an apron . And I think that the minister is obsessed with aprons only and is deliberately overlooking the major concerns that need to be addressed in the hospitals. Where are the medicines that are required to be administered to the patients? There is a total infrastructural failure in the hospitals which the government is deliberately overlooking and the ministers trying to score points on the petty issues like wearing the aprons only. This act is just an eyewash from the minister so that real issues concerning the health care can be manipulated under the garb of petty claims and the entire attentions could be diverted," said Dr Gurmeet Kour.
The medico also said that she owes her indebtedness to the BJP national leaders who apologized on the media for the rude behavior of the minister as she never wanted that high personalities in the party should have done to her for which she owes her humble gratitude .
She also said that extending apology is not the solution to the act of debauchery committed by a minister to whom a common man votes, but a legal justice be delivered in the case.
"The minister misbehaved with me in full public view and I would seek the justice from highest seat of law even if the need arose," said Dr Gurmeet adding that the political dispensation in the state should also come to understand that they are not above the Law and the God.
While Jammu social, local, political and doctors fraternity are standing beside Dr Gurmeet Kour for the justice to be delivered , the medico is of opinion that she would move court as soon as she would see that justice is being not delivered to her.
