Kathua, Mar 16: Under the supervision of District Development Commissioner, Kathua Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, IAS National Rural Drinking Water and sanitation awareness week was launched in District Kathua with effect from 16thMarch to 22nd March. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Mushtaq Ahmed, District Panchayat Officer, Kathua Anil Kumar Thakur, Superintending Engineer PHE (I&FC), District Information Officer, Kathua Indu Jamwal, Block Development Officer, Kathua NK Chandan, Baryam Munde representative "Communication Capacity Development Unit" Department of PHE(I&FC) CCDU, Kathua and various other officers and representatives from PRIs were present. The week being organized to aware the general public and especially the poor and down trodden society regarding use of neat and clean drinking water and to avoid open defecation by use of Individual House Hold Latrines being constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin @ Rs. 12,000 per toilet with an objective to make the whole District open defecation free by 2nd October 2019. Block Level and Panchayat Level awareness camps and Gram Sabhas are being conducted under the supervision of Block Development Officers in each block with the participation of Block Level/ Panchayat Level functionaries of Department of Education, Health, Social Welfare, PHE (I&FC), PRIs, CBOs and CCDU. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua also flagged off Audio Visual Vehicles which shall cover all blocks of District Kathua and announce all the measures to be taken up by General Public are maintaining cleanliness to avoid consequences of diseases. |
