Jammu, Mar 16: J&K Jammu Lok Mela Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised Jammu Lok Mela, a mega event of music and folk dances today at Baspur Bangla, RS Pura, Jammu. Talib Bhagtian and Naro Devi, prominent folk artists of the region, inaugurated Jammu Lok Mela enlightening the traditional lamp. Mr Deep Raj, SDM, was the chief guest while Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was also present in the presidium. While speaking on the occasion, Deep Raj, SDM, RS Pura said that this is after a long time that the J&K Cultural Academy reached the remote areas and organised such type of folk music and dance festivals which will not only provide platform to the artists but also provide a space to the youth to have the glimpse of the rich and old traditions, customs, culture and heritage. Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished guests, artists and locals of the area, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary said that J&K Cultural Academy is going to organise such more festivals as a series in form of Jammu Lok Mela in Gujru Nagrota of Billawar, Ramnagar Udhampur and Jhiri, Jammu in the current month. He further said that such Lok Melas will encourage the budding artists and also helps to promote, preserve and document the rich traditions of the region. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Yash Pal Nirmal, research assistant while Sh Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri presented vote of thanks. |
