S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BANDIPORA, Feb 3: In broad day light an under-trial and his accomplices today attacked a Public Prosecutor and a senior Advocate inside the court premises here. Meanwhile President Association Bandipora alleged that the incident took place due to the alleged negligence on part of security. Sources said that the under trial Noor Din Khan, along with his accomplices, attacked Public Prosecutor Advocate Shafiq Bhat and senior Advocate Jan Mohammad Mir, inside the court premises. "Noor-ud Din Khan S/O Dawood Khan R/O Doban Ungam Bandipora was having 488 civil Procedure court (crpc) matrimonial disputes & one Ashiq Hussain S/O Nazir Ahmad Bhat R/O Ashtingo was also in the court. Noor-ud Din started quarreling with Advocate Mir, after which his accomplice Ashiq Bhat asked them to pacify the matter," said sources. Both the lawyers were injured, one of them severely, after an under trial attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon at CJM court in Bandipora district, said sources. "Public Prosecutor Advocate Shafiq got severely injured and was referred to sub-district hospital Bandipora. The attack took place when the under-trial was brought for hearing in a case at the CJM court here in Bandipora," said sources. Meanwhile, Bar Association President Bandipora, Advocate Masroor Ahmad told Early Times that yesterday the senior advocate was threatened over the phone by the under trial Noor Din Gojjar. "He had called him today morning at 9:30 am and threatened him of dire consequence. The under trial along with his accomplice slapped senior Advocate Jan Mohammad Mir, inside the court premises," said Bar Association President. He said, "The irony is that, there was no security check up at the main gate for frisking and no such arrangements were put in place. This is not the first incident, as in past attacks happened in Supreme Court and in district court of Anantnag. Keeping such incidents in mind government should have made proper arrangements." Advocate Masroor said that this is the negligence on part of civil administration adding that anything can happen in future. He said that elaborate security arrangements should be put in place. He added that general public, lawyers and even Judges can be targeted in future. "It was the duty of security to come with rescue but they were just watching the incident as mere spectators," he added. |
