74 students protest against school admn over denial of admission cards Class XII exam

Poonch, Feb 3: Agitated over denial of admit cards/roll number slips to appear in class XII final exams which commenced here today, the 74 students from two Government Higher Secondary Schools staged protest here today against school authorities outside the office of Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar -Poonch district,
The aggrieved students assembled near the Office of Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh and staged a massive protest demonstration against the lackadaisical approach from school respective principals and staff alleging them for unnecessarily harassing to the students for no reasons. Protesting students were later joined in by their parents and locals also who also raised slogans for callous attitude of school authorities.
According to sources, 40 students of Govt Higher Secondary School for Boys, Mendhar and 34 students of Govt Higher Secondary School, Harni have been denied their admit cards to appear in final Boards exams of Class XII which started from today with practical in Science stream subject.
Speaking to some media persons after protests, the parents of students also blamed school authorities for harassing children deliberately otherwise there is no reason to disallow them to appear in the examinations. Here it needs to mention that SDM Thakur Sher Singh has already asked for allowing the students to appear in exams.
Principal of the Govt Higher Secondary school for Boys Mendhar, told Early Times that the agitating boys have been denied their admission in exams only due to their high shortage in roll call registers.
"As they has failed to get minimum attendance in academic session, that is why their admit cards have been returned back to Board Office," he further maintained.
When contacted Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch said it was not only matter of two schools but there were many students who have been absent from appearing in final Board exams of Class XII from the different schools of Poonch district on the basis of shortage found on their records.
Meanwhile Assistant Secretary BOSE Virender Singh confirmed that admit cards of 74 students from GHSS for Boys Mendhar and GHSS Harni, have been received by the Board authorities at Poonch.
