Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 3: BJP leadership has crossed all limits of double standard when party organised a function at border town of Jourian to pay tributes to the martyrs of Praja Parishad agitation two days back.
Shockingly with two flags on his official vehicle, Vice Chairman of the Kissan Advisory Board, Dalit Singh Chib, who is blue-eyed boy of former Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, had presided over the martyr day function. On the official vehcile of Dalit Singh Chib, two flags were installed-one state flag and second national flag.
On the one hand BJP leaders were paying tributes to the Praja Parishad martyrs while on the other two flags were hoisting on the official vehicles of Chib. It was height of double standard because activists of Praja Parishad, to whom BJP leaders were paying tributes, had laid down their lives while opposing two flags. "Shaheedi Sthal" has been constructed at Jourian village of Akhnoor Sub Division in the memory of Mela Ram, Baryam Singh, Baldev Singh, Basant Ram, Nanak Chand, Trilok Singh and Sain Singh who lost their lives while opposing hoisting of state flag during Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan and Ek Nishan agitating under the leadership of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and Dr Shyama Parshad Mukherjee.
When BJP leaders were paying tributes, a local pointed towards official vehicle of Dalit Singh Chib, on which state flag was simultanously hoisting with national tricolour.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, while addressing the function said he that although they paying tributes to these seven martyrs but in our state still people get martyrdom everyday as our soldiers, members of para-military forces, policemen and even civilians lay down their lives for the cause of the nation. He spoke on the ten month rule of PDP-BJP coalition and said that a number of path breaking decisions were taken with zero tolerance towards corruption. "Amnesty scheme for electricity consumers, Food Safety Act, initiating of major developmental projects in health, education, tourism sectors are few of them", said Dr. Nirmal Singh and added that package for PoJK refugees and provision of five marla plot at safer places for border people are the results of the sincere efforts of coalition Government.
