KVK, Reasi organises farmers training Programme | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organised one day farmers training programme on diseases and pest management in wheat crop at a downtrodden village Kanshi Patta (Pouni) of Reasi district. According to press release, more than 30 farmers participated in the programme. At the outset Dr.Shahid Ahmed, Sr. Scientist cum Head, K.V.K., Reasi welcomed the farmers and aware them about the major diseases of wheat occurring in the district. He elaborated all about the disease management strategies in Rabi season crops. He narrated that in order to control the seed borne diseases farmers should treat the seed before sowing of crops. He also aware many disease management practices of crops viz., Wheat, mustard chickpea, vegetables, etc. He further suggested to the farmers that they should regularly visit their wheat fields to diagnose the yellow rust disease so that disease infestation can be managed in the beginning. He emphasised on loose smut, yellow rust, leaf blight, leaf blotch diseases of wheat. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist motivated the farmers for commercial agriculture. He suggested the farmers that with proper crop management they can increase their crop production which further will help them to raise their socio-economic status. He gave some scientific tips to increase their crops production. |
