AVP Samba, GHS Sarna win U-17 cricket finals | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, May 2 : The AVP Samba and GHS Sarna won boys and girls titles respectively in inter-school under-17 cricket tournament of zone Samba, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Sports Stadium, Samba, here. In the boys' final, AVP Samba defeated APS Samba by nine runs. Earlier, in the semifinals, APS Samba beat boys HS Sarna by 16 runs while AVP Samba defeated Lord Krishna High School Samba by two runs. Rishant Singh of AVP Samba was named man of the match. Similarly, in under-17 girls' title clash, GHS Sarna trounced GHS Bainglar by seven wickets. In the semifinals, GHS Bainglar beat GHS Balore and GHS Sarna defeated GHSS Boys Samba. The matches were officiated by the technical penal including Anirudh Singh, Kulbir Singh,. Bhopinder Singh, Zorawar Singh Sambyal, Raj Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Sumant Singh, Roopa Sambyal, Asha Rani,. Sudesh Kumari, Seema Sharma, Suman Lata, Rajinder Sambyal (Pharmacist), Shobana (Assistant) and Rakesh Kumar. In all, 15 teams, representing as many schools of the zone took part in the competition. Earlier, the event was declared open by district officer, Subash Chander. The competition was supervised by ZPEO Samba, Rakesh Verma. Principal of AVP HSS Samba, Anupam Sambya , Sardari Lal (Coach), Army Public School, Samba, Dr Sunil Dubey and Dr Monika.
