JAMMU, Jan 11: Pakistan's behaviour on borders is more of a frustrated cat scratching the pole. Stung by repeated failures to push militants into Jammu region from across the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), it today violated the 1993 "ceasefire agreement" twice in an interval of 10 hours by opening fire in Kanhachak and firing rockets in Poonch.
While at Kanhachak, militants came closer to the barbed-wire fencing under the cover of Pak-fire and attacked a forward area, besides blowing up a part of fencing in IED blasts; in Poonch sector where two rockets were fired, a BSF man was killed and another wounded critically.
Police sources said the Pak Rangers from their New Chinore post resorted to heavy volume of fire on the BSF's forward Alpha Machail outpost in Kanhachak at about 12.30 am. The BSF returned the fire.
However, taking cover of the Pak fire, militants came closer to the barbed-wire fencing and then tied an IED with a pillar.

Jammu, Jan 11: The highest seat of power, the civil secretariat had to taste darkness for an hour as the protesting employees of the Power Development Department on a collusion course with the police in their failed bid to reach secretariat.
As the ding dong battle went on between cops and PDD employees for over an hour Monday evening, power supply was turned off to some parts of the secretariat. This right wing of third floor of the main block of civil secretariat had no electricity for an hour and half late this afternoon.

JAMMU, Jan 11: A CRPF Headconstable died under mysterious circumstances here late Sunday night. Police sources said Headconstable Surinder, who had a stay at the Transit Camp at Panama Chowk here Sunday, developed health problems under mysterious circumstances in the afternoon.
He was evacuated to the Government Medical College Hospital where he died at about 10.30 pm. He was at present posted at Awantipura in Kashmir.After post-mortem, the body was handed over to CRPF for despatching it his home for last rites.Police have registered a case in this connection and started investigations.

Two militant suspects arrested by police from the border Kanhachak area near here today later turned out to be notorious burglars.
Police sources said Zahoor Ahmad of Awantipura and Irshad Ahmad of Budgam were roaming at Kanhachak under mysterious circumstances when a police party led by Kanhachak police

An Agriculture Officer (AO) was arrested by police in Kishtwar today for his alleged acts of making "porno" CDs and taking "vulgar and indecent" photographs of innocent girls and

New Delhi: The Army on Monday maintained that there was no change in the established demarcation and "lines of claim" along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.
An Army spokesman was reacting to a report that a "substantial" amount of land had been lost by India in the last two decades along the LAC with China as had been brought at a recent meeting chaired by Commissioner of Leh AK Sahu and attended by an Army Brigadier and a Colonel.

Jammu, Jan 11: A border-crosser, who was released from jail last year, again exfiltrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) early today from the border Dheri area of Mendhar in Poonch.
Mohammad Irshad, son of Lal Hussain of Sakhi Maidan, Mendhar, had earlier crossed over to PoK in 2000. He infiltrated into Indian territory from Nowshera in Rajouri in 2007 after spending seven years in different PoK areas.
Police sources said soon after sneaking into Nowshera, he had surrendered before police, who had taken him to a "safe house" and put him to sustained interrogation.
He was later sent to jail by a court. He was released by the court in November last year.
