Jammu / Poonch, Oct 1: Pakistan is known for doing this. Whenever there is a festivity on this side of the divide, strange behaviour erupts from the other side carrying urges of limited peace and reflections of deep rooted hostilities.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr which was being celebrated with gaiety in Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani rangers resorted to firing on the International Border near Kanhachal to push in the armed infiltrators. Interestingly, not far away, in Poonch the Pakistan Army officers walked up to the Line of Control to exchange sweets and greetings with their Indian counterparts on the eve of Eid.
In second incident of breach of ceasefire in less than 52 hours, Pakistani troops on Wednesday fired from across the border to push in armed militants in Jammu, the BSF said.
"Pakistani rangers opened fire on Tent Post along the International Border in Kancchak sub-sector of Jammu frontier in the wee hours today," a BSF spokesman said.

JAMMU, Oct 1: Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervor and gaiety today and offered special Eid prayers and prayed for “peace and communal brotherhood”, in the backdrop of the recent Amaranth land row that had threatened to polarize Hindu and Muslim in the state. POONCH, Oct 1: In this border township, the main attraction of Eid-ul-Fitr festival was the participation of the people of divided families from across Line of Control.
Since 67 percent families of Poonch district are having their nearest relations, kith - kins on, other side of LoC in Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK), therefore after the weekly bus service hundreds of PaK nationals have started visiting this side to meet their nearest relatives. Today a number of families from PaK celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on this side in their original houses and villages.

JAMMU, Oct 1: The National Conference today said situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not conducive for holding assembly elections and a low voter turnout will not serve any purpose.
"The situation is not conducive for polls. There is a deep polarisation of voters in Jammu and the feeling of alienation is very strong in the valley," NC president Omar Abdullah told a news agency in New Delhi.

JAMMU, Oct 1: In a shocking incident a student of a private college was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her rented room in the town here today.
A Bed college student committed suicide here at Nanak Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station. The girl identified as Gursharan Kour daughter of Sukhdev Singh and resident of Surankote, a student of Khalsa BEd college, was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
