Jammu, Dec 11: On a two-day visit to Jammu to review security situation particularly in view of terrorist threat to the peace process, the Union Home Secretary GK Pillai today blamed Pakistan for not changing its attitude on cross-border infiltration.
Talking to reporters after a security review meeting at the Police Control Room here, Pillai said that Pakistan continues to push-in terrorists from border into Jammu and Kashmir. "There has been no change in the attitude of Pakistan. They are infiltrating terrorists from the border. It is borne by the facts on the ground," Pillai said. He added, "infiltration continues and that is something, which we have always said. There has been increase in it," said the Union Home Secretary, who arrived here on a two-day visit to review security scenario of the State.
He further said that terror infrastructure has not been dismantled in that country and militants are staged to infiltrate to this side.

| Lens-men, cops among 89 injured in Srinagar clashes | | | |

Srinagar, Dec 11: At least 30 protesters and 59 policemen were injured in clashes between stone pelting mobs and the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital where life remained affected by a separatist shutdown. Twelve photo-journalists covering the protests were also injured in the protest.
As many as 59 policemen, including some officers, were injured in the clashes with the protesters during the day in Srinagar city.
'Twenty policemen, including some officers, are now being treated in the hospital for injuries suffered in the daylong clashes here,' said a senior police officer.

Washington, Dec 11: Rejecting Pakistan's latest plea for US mediation on the Kashmir problem, the Obama administration today said it understood the importance of the issue to both India and Pakistan but it has to be ultimately resolved bilaterally.
"We understand the importance of the Kashmir issue to both Pakistan and India, and it is something that we do discuss with both countries," Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, P J Crowley, said at a news briefing.
