Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Dec 23: Former Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur Baseer Khan's decision to reshuffle eleven revenue officials, four days after cabinet ordered his transfer to Srinagar has upset many and raised questions over administrative propriety, which every officer is expected to follow on being transferred. Baseer Ahmed Khan, known widely for resisting political pressure, transferred eleven Patwaris of Udhampur district on December 19, 2011 through seven different orders i.e. four days after being transferred. Some of the Patwaris, according to revenue officials in Udhampur, had not completed their tenure of two years. Questions are being asked as to why despite having been transferred, Khan chose to reshuffle Patwaris in the interest of an administration, whose head he was not anymore. Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 23: Tension today gripped the undergraduates hostel of government medical college (GMC) at Reshamghar Colony here after a MBBS student was beaten by some other students inside his room. Police sources said Ibrar Ahmad, son of Mohammad Khalid of ward No 10, Rajouri, was inside his room at undergraduates' hostel for MBBS students at Reshamghar Colony when he was assaulted by other hostlers. Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 23: Hundreds of diamonds, rubies, gold bars and other valuables owned by Kashmir's Maharaja Hari Singh seem to have gone missing. An appraisal done by the Sotheby's in 1983 for the Jammu and Kashmir government had valued the Maharaja's treasure trove to be around Rs 5,000 cr. An RTI activist, who sought information on the treasure from the J&K government, says that the current value would be Rs 100,000 cr at least. The J&K government on the directions of High Court had made an inventory of all the items, but that list is missing.
