Doda, Feb 8: Despite efforts from government to maintain supply lines in the cut off regions of Doda and Kishtwar, black-marketing and profiteering has found its way in the hours of crisis.
Chemist shops are running short of medicines, LPG Gas is being sold on higher rates and auto fuel is almost running out.
Many traders here are exploiting the situation and are selling goods at higher costs on the pretext of extra labour charges etc. This all is being done right under the nose of district administration and even after the appraisal of various senior citizens administration has not been able to take action against the culprits.
In this connection when Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sharief-Ud-Din was contacted he denied any black marketing and added that they had made checking squads to keep vigil over such elements. New Delhi, Feb 8: Against the backdrop of much-debated option of surgical strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan post-Mumbai terror attack, Army Chief Gen Deepak Kapoor has said that such strikes are ‘very much feasible’ militarily.

Srinagar, Feb. 7: A Quranic verse pasted on one of the skis of a Swedish tourist today took the skiing paradise of Gulmarg by storm.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets crying “sacrilege” but the skier has told police he had pasted the sticker carrying the verse for divine protection against any harm.
The police have detained Hans Patrick, who works in Qatar, for questioning but the protesters want him punished.
Kashmir police chief B. Srinivas said Patrick was married to a Muslim woman in Qatar who had given him the sticker for good luck.

Jammu, Feb 8: Arrested in the drug smuggling case, the IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre Saji Mohan has named 27 more accomplices even as the State government and the Police have initiated internal monitor on all those officers and men who were associated with the tainted officer during last years of his tenure here.
The Anti-Terror squad of the Mumbai Police, which is probing the drug case, took into custody Balwinder Singh, a SP of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Chandigarh. Singh had been summoned by investigators questioning Mohan, as both the officers were responsible for huge seizures of heroin in Chandigarh about two years ago.
