| BJP's silence in Assembly emboldened NC-Cong into corrupt practices | | 'Nexus' in backdoor appointments, transfers, postings | | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: Engaged in worst ever political bickering for the last two days, even as both BJP and National Conference are coming out with their set of clarifications, the development has left indelible question mark on the conduct of political parties in being friends while giving and taking favours and bitter foes when interests clash. Latest rumblings by none other than the Chief Minister has exposed this 'nexus' and revealed behind the scene deals but more than that the big question remains why BJP MLAs allowed corrupt practices to continue at the hands of ever corrupt coalition of Congress and NC Government. There are ample instances to substantiate that their strategy of silence in the Assembly only emboldened NC-Congress Government's practices on continuance of backdoor appointments and other corrupt practices.
When the issues of Backdoor appointments in the Legislative Assembly rocked the House during budget session during the last two successive years, BJP initially joined the chorus of opposition in lashing out at Government for not just employing...

| | | | Congress' divisive approach towards Jammu province | | Regional Councils | | | Rustam
Jammu, June 18: Jammu and Kashmir is in the wrong hands. There are elements in the Government who are demanding a regime that is outside the political and constitutional organization of India. They are at the helm of affairs and they have been exploiting Jammu province and Ladakh to the hilt since October 1947. They have virtually converted these two regions into colonies of Kashmir. They all belong to the National Conference. Then there are elements in the Government who, like the NC, want to dismember Jammu province. They are in the NC as well as in the Congress, which is also in power in the state. They do not consider Jammu province a single political entity. They divide it into...
| | | | NC CWC meet looks like a halqa meeting | | Omar discusses PDP more than NC | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 18: The National Conference Central Working Committee held a marathon meeting that lasted nine hours today. The meeting chaired by the working president, Omar Abdullah, however, did not achieve the desired objective.
It looked like a Halqa meeting where Mufti and PDP were extensively discussed.
Seasoned parties do not discuss outsiders in the top level meetings.
It is a forum to frame strategies. Anyway, the NC did what it is best at-criticizing the opponents and mudslinging.
Omar said Mufti Sayeed's `healing touch' was a big hoax. It appeared as if Omar was addressing a public meeting. He, perhaps had forgotten that the high level meeting should hav...
