| Even after months of PDP-NPP tie-up, Harsh is softly yours Ms Mufti | | Heated exchange between Sagar, Mehbooba, Speaker over AFSPA | | |
Ahmed Ali Fayyaz
SRINAGAR, Aug 20: After days of a ceasefire with the ruling National Conference (NC) in Legislative Assembly, Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, today clashed not only with Minister of Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar, but also with Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone, who directed yet another notice of the ‘contempt of House’ against her but withdrew it later on the persuasion of the National Panthers Party (NPP) leader Harsh Dev Singh. Holding each other responsible for it, PDP and NC members entered into heated exchanges over imposition of Jammu & Kashmir Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) on the disturbed border state.
Concluding his exhaustive reply to the discussion on the grants sought for his departments, Ali Mohammad Sagar dismissed PDP’s campaign for withdrawal of AFSPA as “deceitful politics” and claimed that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s party had never taken an initiative during six-year-long PDP-Congress coalition regime in 2002-08 for revoking the special powers granted to security forces in 1990. Jammu/Srinagar, Aug 20: Even as a survey is on to assess the affects of late monsoon arrival in state, the government today informed legislative assembly that there was nothing to worry about crop yield in Kashmir and Ladakh but the dangers of poor yield of Kharief loomed over Jammu region due to scanty rainfall.

NIRBHAY JAMMUAL
Jammu, Aug 20: The main Indian opposition party BJP stands on the crossroads of destiny after it expelled a senior party leader, Jaswant Singh, from the organisation. The decision was taken by the party leadership during its conclave in Shimla. The charge is simple and clear. Jaswant has in his book "Jinnah: India-partition-Independence" described Jinnah a great leader who was demonised by India and blamed Sardar Patel, the country's first Home Minister, for having engineered partition of the country. L.K.Advani had over three years ago lost the BJP President's post after he was criticised for having made laudatory reference to MA Jinnah when Advani had visited his Maus...

Early Times Special
JAMMU, August 18: Some days ago, the public health engineering (PHE), irrigation and flood control department issued an interesting notification urging hundreds of employees to seek voluntary retirement. Alternatively, they have been asked to undergo age determination test.

The employees under scanner have been urged to seek voluntary retirement within the next three months. In that case, they have been promised full pensionary benefits.
In case such employees fail to follow the gov...
| | | | Bureaucrats working against J&K’s interests, says Minister | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: The State Legislative Assembly was today pushed into guess work to find out the “top bureaucrats working against interests of Jammu and Kashmir” but the Minister who had the knowledge refused to divulge details.
The issue under discussion was the one which has always remained at the heart of doubts and suspicions between State and Center –sharing of water resources and compensation to Jammu and Kashmir against losses it has been suffering on account of a ‘lopsided’ Indus Water Treaty.
Alleging that some bureaucrats were working against the interests of Jammu and Kashmir, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Taj Mohiuddin today sought cooperation of...
