| Six-day Police remand for tainted cops, houses raided | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28: While questioning of the accused in Amandeep Singh murder’s evidence tampering case continued for the day and raids were conducted at the premises of arrested cops, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case obtained six-day Police remand for former SSP Manohar Singh and suspended Inspector Sultan Mirza and Sub Inspector Satnam Singh.
Manohar, sources said, is the first inmate in the new lockup of newly constructed up Gandhi Nagar Police Station while Sultan Mirza has been lodged in the old lockup of the Police Station where he was Station House Officer until last week. Satnam Singh and Sultan are lodged in the same room.
After daylong of questioning and raids at their premises, the arrested Police officials former SSP Manohar Singh, Inspector Sultan Mirza and Sub Inspector Satnam Singh were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Forest Magistrate Jammu Yahya Firdous in Bathindi area at around 5 PM. On presentation of SIT the Magistrate granted six-day Police custody for the accused.

JAMMU, Sept 28: A Chandigarh bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had rubbished the action taken by the state government against senior IAS officer, Dr Arun Kumar, for his allegedly ``irresponsible'' utterances in a press conference held on June 17, 2008.
On May 20 this year, a CAT bench comprising Mr Justice M. Ramachandran, vice-chairman, and Mr Khushi Ram, Member (A), had said: ``He should be given a position commensurate with his status and seniority and taking notice of this intrinsic worth. Srinagar Sept 28: Three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, including two from Pakistan, and an elderly woman were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Monday.
Four jawans were also injured in the encounter but they were all out of danger, police reports said.
The encounter broke out at Amlar-Tral, 50 kms from here, this morning when the militants hiding in a house in the village opened fire on a joint search party of police and CRPF, they said.
The wife of the house owner, Taja, died in the shootout between the militants and the police. Two of the slain militants were Pakistani nationals, police said.

New Delhi, Sep 28: The Air India management will meet the Delhi faction of the agitating executive pilots here Monday as their strike entering the third day, forcing cancellation of at least 11 flights out of the national capital alone.
Despite Air India Sunday agreeing to look into their grievances, particularly the productivity-linked incentives (PLI), the Delhi faction of executive pilots said they would continue the strike till the management also conceded their demand and paid them their last three months' salary arrears.

Beijing, Sept 29: China on Monday asked India and Pakistan to seek a solution to the Kashmir issue through peaceful and friendly consultations and offered to play a "constructive role" in resolving the "bilateral issue".
As a friendly country, China would also be happy to see progress in the peace process between India and Pakistan, said Hu Zhengyue, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, in charge of the Asian region.

Jammu, Sept 28- Twenty four nominations have been filed for filling up six posts of office bearers in Chamber and Commerce and Industry (CCI) on the last date of filing papers. Of these, three nomination papers have been filed for the post of President, seven for Vice President, three for Junior Vice President, two for Secretary General, four for Secretary and five for treasurer. The scrutiny of these forms will be done on October 8 at 4 PM and the withdrawal of candidature is allowed up to October 18, 2009 till 5 pm.
