Jammu, Mar 14: Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today denied reports that they have received any inputs pertaining to fresh terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir. He also denied the reports that the killed CRPF men were carrying shields and lathis instead of weapons. He expressed his grief and sorrow over the killing of five CRPF personnels in Srinagar yesterday. "It should not have happened, but it took place and was an unfortunate tragedy," Kichloo said "We don't have any inputs about any plan of the militants to carry out similar attacks". He blamed the media for racking controversy over party's demand of removal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from State of Jammu and Kashmir. "You people (referring to media persons) are highlighting the issue of withdrawal of AFSPA in a negative manner… The stand of Government over withdrawal of AFSPA is clear and we are demanding that it should be removed from those parts of the State where there is normalcy," said Sajjad.
He said that the Government has never demanded withdrawal of AFSPA from the militancy affected areas of the State. He also denied the reports that the killed CRPF personnels were holding shields and lathis. "It is wrong to say that the killed CRPF personnels did not hold weapon and instead were holding shields is totally baseless. "The attack was carried on CRPF posts and they were having weapons….. Some people are saying that the killed jawans were holding shields in their hands, but I want to make clear one thing that they were carrying proper weapons and not the shields as was said by some people" added Kichloo.
