| No accommodation for KPs appointed under PMRP | | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Mar 14: It is strange but a fact that the Kashmiri Pandits, who have been recently appointed on various posts in Kashmir valley under Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation Package (PMRP), are not migrants, as the State Government has refused to provide them accommodation in Kupwara district, which was constructed for the community. Amid its claims to rehabilitate KPs at their home land in Kashmir valley, the State Government today said that the accommodation under PMRP would be given to those families who intend to return to Kashmir valley as per PM package. There are about 170 Kashmiri Pandits working in Kupwara district of Valley, but due to non-availability of accommodation they are residing at temples and Hindu shrines of said district. About 60 flats in Nathnoosa area of Kupwara were constructed, but same have not been allotted to these employees. The official documents in possession of Early Time Plus revealed that the State Government has abdicated its responsibility of providing accommodation to the KP youths who have been given employment under PMRP. "The Government is not under obligation to provide accommodation to those employees who been appointed under the said package and posted there. The employees have to arrange accommodation at their own level at the places of posting," the document revealed. The Government has made clear that the transit accommodation is meant for those families who intend to return to Kashmir valley as per PM package. The State Government had said, "The Government of India has provided funds for construction of transit accommodation at various places in Kashmir valley which include district Kupwara also. The said accommodations meant for those Kashmiri migrants who have plans to return to the Valley." The document further said that the issue was also deliberated upon in the last Apex Advisory Committee meeting held on September 18, 2012 at Srinagar headed by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. It was explicitly made clear in the meeting that the employees presently provided temporary accommodation at various places in Kashmir valley on sharing basis different transits camps are not entitled for the same. The meeting also suggested employees that they have to arrange accommodation at their own level at the places of posting. |
