Srinagar, Mar 14: underscoring that measures are afoot to augment the infrastructure and human resources in School Education for infusing momentum into the performance of the department, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said new posts are being referred for filling up on fast track basis to streamline the department.
This was stated by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand here today while reviewing the follow up action of the recently held meeting regarding the performance of the School Education department in the Valley.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that as many as 4500 and 581 posts have been referred for filling up on fast track basis to Services Selection Recruitment Board and Public Service Commission respectively. Besides, 2529 Masters, 2041 Lecturers and promotion of 81 Masters to Lecturer have been regularized while 325 shall be regularized shortly, he added.
The final seniority list of about 1400 Senior Lecturers shall be issued soon, the Deputy Chief Minister told. He also said that promotions to the level of 121 Principals, 24 Zonal Education Officers and 5 Joint Directors shall be affected soon.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged that new transfer policy shall be implemented and those serving in far flung areas shall be recalled back and in future such tenure shall be limited upto one year only which would be compulsory for all except those having complicated health problems and fatal diseases.
He enjoined upon all the officers to supervise the under construction buildings so that the execution of construction works shall be expedited.
The meeting was also informed that a Committee has already been constituted under the supervision of Directors of School Education, Kashmir and Jammu divisions to look into the fake appointments being made in the department.
Tara Chand instructed the concerned Zonal Education Officers to visit at least twice in a week to their zones to make people aware about different schemes and improving the enrolment, besides curtailing the dropouts in the Schools for which the Panchayat members shall be taken abode.
The Deputy Chief Minister exhorted upon the officers to ensure better results and assured that those with better performance shall be rewarded and stern action shall be taken against those with poor performance.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Secretary, School Education, F A Faktoo, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director, School Education, Kashmir, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Joint Director Information, Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Khan besides officers of the School Education department participated in the meeting.
