Kishtwar breathes again: Curfew lifted after 12 days
APD arrives at compromise formula

KISHTWAR, Aug 21: Following sustained dialogue and deliberation with the representatives of both the communities at DC Office Kishtwar by all party delegation led by Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, a peace formula was finally arrived at today, paving way for resumption of normal life in the area. The District administration lifted the Curfew from Kishtwar town after 12 days since communal clashes that left three people killed and over 50 injured.
As soon as the deadlock between the two communities ended, a joint peace march attended by the people from both the communities was held from DC office Kishtwar to Dak bungalow. The peace march was led by Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, while MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLC Davinder Singh Rana, former Minister Surjeet Singh Salathia, former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman, former MLC Brig Mohan Sharma, beside special IGP Kishtwar-Doda PR Manhas, DC Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan, DIG Doda-Kishtwar Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal, prominent citizens Somnath Sharma, Sarpanch Bidya Lal, Joginder Mahajan, trade union President Rakesh Gupta, Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo and several other prominent citizens participated in the march.
While talking to the media persons, Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din expressed his gratitude to All Party Delegation for contributing in restoration of peace. He said that with active support of both the communities, representatives of business community, and the cooperation of the people at large, peace was finally restored in Kishtwar. He said that so many misunderstandings were created between the two communities, and the deadlock was finally resolved after two days of sustained efforts of the APD.
He said that the differences between the two communities had been resolved and people had assured that they will live with communal harmony and brotherhood.
