Neha JAMMU, Aug 21: Notwithstanding the failure the all-party delegation, which was led by Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, to reassure the minority community that the State Government will take all possible steps to maintain law and order in Kishtwar and the adjoining areas and meet its genuine demands, the senior Congress Minister in the Omar Abdullah-led coalition Government did do some plain-speaking and accused outside forces of fomenting communal trouble. Talking to members of the minority community on Tuesday at Tourism Reception Centre (TRC), he sought to convince them that whatever happened on August 9 and had been happening there after was the handiwork of outsiders. "Outsiders and separatists were involved in what happened on August 9 and what had been happening since then," he said, adding that "their objective was to engineering communal riots and create bitterness between the two communities". "There are certain elements who want to de-link (the non-existent) Chenab valley and integrate it into Kashmir so that they are able to make their presence felt," he said, and added that "we will not allow this to happen and the State Government will never allow these elements to play their game". In other words, the Medical Education Minister reportedly suggested that what had been going in Kishtwar since August 9 is the handiwork of anti-national forces and votaries of Greater Kashmir. His assessment cannot be brushed aside. Indeed, there are elements who have been working for the division of the State on communal basis. It was the most cherished desire of certain Kashmiri leaders to set up Greater Kashmir comprising the Kashmir valley and the areas of Jammu and Ladakh where members of the majority community are quite numerous. The Congress Minister deserves appreciation for calling a spade a spade and exposing the evil designs of those who wrecked havoc on August 9. |
