| Water scarcity hits basic facilities in some wards at GMC, attendants go helter-skelter | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 21: Notwithstanding the tall claims of state government for providing better health services to the people of state can be gauged from the fact that patients of Government Medical Hospital Jammu are suffering huge hardships due to absence of water facilities in some of their wards for last two days. Patients along with their attendants of most of the wards of the hospitals particularly Ward No. 14, 15 are facing difficulties due to scarcity of water supply in the bathrooms of their wards since last night. "There is no water supply in the bathrooms of Ward No 14, 15 since last night which has resulted into insanitation in the bathrooms and has started stinking, causing huge inconvenience to patients and attendants," said Sawarna Devi, patient hailing from Marh Constituency. "We have approached the authority concerns numbers of times since yesterday and we were asked that problem will be addressed within hours but nothing has been done till date," said Rajiv Kuamr patient of Ward number 15 from Bhagwati Nagar. The situation is continuously aggravating in every minute due to hot and humid climatic condition, foul smell is emanating from the bathrooms making almost unbearable to stay in the wards, he added. "We have been fetching water from ground floor near Canteen for drinking purposes but due to crowd their getting water, it is taking long to the get it," Chandan Kumari, an attendant.She further said that she had also made calls on 666, 400 helpline numbers but problem still persisting in all wards. |
