| Tourism deptt JE threatens KP workers to return to Jammu | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 21: Tempers yet to cool down over incident of stone pelting over the residential quarters of the KP families in Pulwama, two employees of a migrant contractors were beaten reportedly by some goons of a JE of Tourism Development Corporation at Sonamarg and threatened to return to Jammu. According to sources, two employees of a migrant contractor who also happen to be displaced KPs were thrashed by some goons of a JE of TRDC at Sonamarg today when they sought a written order from the Department for the changes in construction of a Tourism complex building at Sonamarg being constructed by the contractor. The two members of the displaced community were thrashed by the musclemen and also warned of serious consequences. Incident caused strong resentment among the displaced people who said on one hand the Government was claiming about the safe and dignified return of the displaced people to Valley and on the other hand Government employees holding responsible posts are too harassing and humiliating the members of the community who volunteered to work in the Valley. The displaced Pandit organizations while taking serious note of the arbitrary action of JE of the Corporation have appealed Director TDC, Shamim Ahmed and Minister of Tourism GA Mir to take action against the JE and arrest the goons for harassing the migrant workers and warning them to return to Jammu. Sources said that even the Haal incident could have not taken place had the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama avoided to visit the migrant camp while on his way to demolish some private structures constructed on Government land illegally. Had DC chosen to remain away from the camp on that day the hapless migrant employees would have not become the target of stone pelters wrath, sources added. Sources said that earlier DC visited the migrant transit camp and on his return from camp ordered the demolition of illegal structures adjacent to camp which led to trouble and poor migrants became the target of the agitated people. Sources said that there was also lot of resentment among the migrant employees against the role of district administration over the episode. The camp inmates of Haal and other migrant camps in Valley have also taken serious exception to role of a self styled KP organization claiming to be working for return of migrants for hobnobbing with separatists. The activists of the organisation had also invited the separatist leaders to Haal yesterday which was opposed by the camp inmates on the pretext that these were separatists who sowed the seeds of hatred in Kashmir and were responsible for mass exodus of Pandits in 1989-90. They said that they can have differences with the mainstream political parties and can protest against them in a peaceful way but can't be hoodwinked by separatists who are the enemies of both majority and minority communities in Valley and brought the Kashmir to the path of destruction and devastation'. |
