Srinagar, Aug 21: Dozens of structures including Government High School got damaged and about 1 kilometer road was washed away due to floods caused by cloudburst that struck Zustan village in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district late Tuesday night. Reports reaching Srinagar based news agency (GNS) said that around 1 am last night, cloudburst that struck Zustan village in Tral area wreaked havoc among the local residents. "Dozens of houses including Government High School building suffered damage and about 1 kilometer road that connects Zurstan and Prungam villages was also swept away", Station House Officer (SHO) Tral, Muhammad Saleem Mir while talking to said. "I along with police team visited the affected area and we are taking stock of the situation," SHO added. Locals from the area said that their crops and properties got severely damaged due to cloudburst. "We were deprived of even electricity and water supply now," Javid Ahmad, a local resident of Zurstan said . He said the local populace is upset as no one from district administration visited the affected village. "The cloudburst damaged our homes and crops, we appeal the government to provide us relief and immediately restore the water and electric supply," another local said. |
