A challenge to Govt authority! Zuben Mehta show 9/4/2013 10:02:04 PM Et Report Jammu, Sept 4 : The Zubin Mehta show has put the state government into a tight corner. With militants having threatened to attack the concert, the security agencies are on their toes. Massive frisking across Srinagar reflects their desperation. Official sources said that since it has become a prestige issue for the state Government a three-tier security bandobast was being made within and outside the Mughal garden and on the entire boulevard leading to the Garden. Sources said that besides separatists, militants too have voiced opposition to the concert and they were trying to challenge the Government. It is in this context that adequate preparations were being made to ensure that the concert had a hassle-free and incident free end.Sources said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani had been tring to incite people to violence by dubbing Zuben as a Jew or as an Israeli. Official circles said that Zuben Mehta is an India born musician and he himself has denied that he was a Jew. He has stated that he has been head of an istitution in Israel. Political pundits are of the opinion that the state Government should take in hand all possible measures for ensuring that the concert was a great success failing which separatists and militants would get emboldened.
