| Rana says NC only party having credible footprints on 87 constituencies | | Cong 'claim' on 87 seats sends NC into tizzy mode | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 4: Anxious over its fast losing political ground across the state, panic stricken National Conference is viewing its coalitional partner Congress more as a rival than its own ally . Nervous over its Congress' assertion in the recently held convention at Jammu, NC is losing no time in wearing a pro active robe and repeating assertions in similar tone on the points which Congress leadership specified during the day long convention on August 31. If the contention made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar and affirmation by his closest aide Devinder Singh Rana are any indicators to suggest this, NC is truly disturbed at Congress 'declaration' in front of its workers and cadres during the convention. Sources said NC is feeling nervy about what Congress leadership indicated , though not directly but made it explicit that it was not too willing to go with NC in pre poll and post poll scenario in the state next year when the state goes to Parliamentary and Assembly polls. Sources said what has added to NC worries and augmented its apprehensions is what Congress leaders conveyed to its workers and cadres in a very frank and meaningful way during interaction with them. Sources said former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who attended the convention to boost and encourage the party workers enter into active mode conveyed to them clearly that Congress shall contest Assembly elections on all the 87 constituencies. Whether this will happen or not is something coming time will unfold but for now this statement by none other than the stalwart of Congress is enough to have created ripples in rank and file of NC, sources said. Sources further said the statement made by NC provincial president Devidner Singh Rana is something which NC is prompted to make after Congress 'declaration' , though not a final one. Rana while addressing the party leaders and workers at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan today declared as if to counter Congress that 'NC is the only party with credible footprints in all the 87 assembly constituencies of the State…..'. Not only this, Rana exhorted the party workers to get activated for the big democratic exercise next year and even claimed that political atmosphere enveloping across the State is highly conducive for National Conference with people eager to give it a 'decisive mandate'. What made it conspicuous and evident that NC is anxious over Congress trying to strengthening its foot hold in Jammu is the statement in which he tried to paint very positive picture, perhaps stronger than Congress in the Jammu region. "I am confident that National Conference will bag maximum seats across the region and prove that it was equally popular in Jammu division…….", Rana stated today. On the other hand , Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today described NC as a movement rather than a mere political party and even proclaimed that NC's well-defined political agenda for modern and model Jammu and Kashmir is its bulwark. In capacity of the Working president of NC, Omar Abdullah who patted himself with the slogan that NC will fight the next Assembly Election on its political and development agenda. In a reaffirming and self assuring contention he also reminded that the Party represents aspirations of all the regions and the sections of the society, lest Congress or any other party forgets it. |
