| Sonia Gandhi should have come to J&K for treatment | | AIIMS an outdated medical institute | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 4: On September 2, UPA chairperson and AICC president Sonia Gandhi left for US for medical check up. She was not feeling well for quite sometime. Sonia Gandhi, who is accompanied by Priyanka Vadra, will be back in about a week according to reports. On August 26, when the Lok Sabha was discussing the much-publicized Food Security Bill, the AICC chief fell ill and was admitted to the AIIMS, New Delhi. Earlier, she had been operated upon in the US. Sonia Gandhi had undergone surgery for an undisclosed ailment in a US hospital on August 5, 2011. That Sonia Gandhi had to go to US for medical check up clearly suggests that even the AIIMS doesn't have competent doctors who could diagnose her ailment and give her proper medical treatment. This is a sad reflection on Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. He has been holding the health portfolio for years now and still he has not been able to set up a medical institute that could treat patients like Sonia Gandhi in case of need. The AIIMS cannot treat such powerful personalities as Sonia Gandhi. What an irony! The advisors of Sonia Gandhi should have advised her to come to Jammu & Kashmir State which received No. 1 State Award in health sector only on November 1, 2012. Jammu & Kashmir State bagged No. 1 State award at the India Today conclave that day. It was none other than NC working president and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who received the award. Speaking at the conclave, Omar Abdullah said that his government had "flagged health as one of the most important concerns in the development policy of the State" and added that "focused attention is being paid to upgrade basic health needs in the state". "The sustained efforts of his government have helped to bring this important sector back on rail along with other public services delivering sectors. The bagging of No. 1 State award by Jammu & Kashmir in health sector for two consecutive years is indicative of the improvement achieved in this sector by the State," he had also said. Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah needs to educate the Indian public and big men and big women about the medical facilities available in Jammu & Kashmir so those who need proper medical care and treatment come to this state. |
