Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 4: In a minor administrative reshuffle effected by the state cabinet today, Kiran Wattal, has been given the prestigious post of JMC Commissioner, an assignment which he has served earlier as well. At present Managing Director of J&K Housing board, Wattal has rendered 21 years of service to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). A senior officer in the echelons of administration, he has worked in state government departments in various capacities. He has also worked as UEED chief engineer and secretary of J&K sports council. Wattal started his career as Site Engineer with Gammon India Ltd in August 1978 and was put on the job of specialised bridge construction. He joined government service in 1980 and independently handled the job of construction of lined canals, cross-drainage works and roads and buildings. In 1985, he opted for municipal services as AE and rose to the rank of joint commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) before his transfer to another department. In JMC, he monitored various jobs of civic amenities, improvement of slum areas and low cost sanitation management of solid waste. In 1992, Wattal underwent a training programme in the field of Solid Waste Management in U K and in 1997, he did another prestigious course in the field of Hazardous Waste Management in Sweden. |
