9/4/2013 11:03:49 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 4: Former Chairman of the legislative Council and senior NC leader Ab Rashid Dar today joined the PDP. Dar was welcomed to the party fold by the party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at a simple function here today.
Welcoming Dar into the party ranks Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said it was time that all right thinking people whether in the NC or elsewhere join hands with him in order to retrieve the state from uncertainty and misgovernance.
He said there were a large number of workers and activists in the NC with genuine concern for the resolution of Kashmir problem and reconstruction of the state. Unfortunately they had been let down time and again by their leadership, he said and added "The party doors are open for every body who wants to play an active role for restoration of state's dignity and empowerment of its people".
Mufti said PDP would provide a respectable platform for all well meaning political workers as we do not carry any baggage from the past.
He said PDP's agenda is anchored in future and it is time that everybody participated in the realization of a dream that has eluded successive generations of people in the state. He said Dar brings into the party his vast and varied political experience and a large number of his well wishers.
Speaking on this occasion Dar said he was disillusioned with the performance of the NC led government which had failed to honour its pledges to the people made during the last elections. The governance, he said had touched the worst ever levels and corruption had increased beyond control. He said the youth were targeted systematically, political opponents were denied freedom to operate within the constitutional space and the government was trying to enforce peace through force which was fraught with serious danger.
He said the PDP has emerged as a credible and progressive alternative and he was impressed with a leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti and wanted to make his contribution to the implementation of PDP's agenda for resolution, reconciliation and reconstruction. Others who were present to welcome Dar included Former Minister Peer Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Rafi Mir, Naeem Akhtar, Basharat Bukhari, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and Hussain Ali Wafa.
