JAMMU, Sept 10: To refurbish its image in the State and boost the sagging morale of party activists, the BJP High Command has deputed Prabhari Avinash Roy Khanna to concentrate on J&K State in general and Jammu region in particular. Khanna who reached the state early this morning held meetings with Party office bearers at Kathua and Samba districts today to have feed- back on functioning of the Party in the State. Khanna, who was received by senior Party leaders met cross section of the people and discussed the future strategy of the Party with them. According to sources, the BJP High Command has issued directives to Khanna and State leadership to refurbish the image of the Party in the State, which has received a set back with the cross voting of seven MLAs. The Party leadership will decide the future strategy for the Assembly as well as Parliamentary elections in the State, sources added. Sources said with Modi factor being at dominance the BJP does not leave any opportunity in consolidating its position in the State as it will try to concentrate on each and every seat during the next year's Parliamentary elections. Sources said though BJP will not finalize the list of the candidates to be fielded for the two Lok Sabha seats from Jammu region in the next Parliamentary elections but the Prbahri has been assigned the task to seek the opinion of Partymen in this regard in the State and seek a feedback from them on probable candidates. Sources said meanwhile lobbying for Lok Sabha seats for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency and Udhampur -Kathua Parliamentary Constituency has already started with various senor functionaries meeting the senior leaders in New Delhi and some strong men in RSS seeking their favour. Sources said though party High Command is undecided yet the list for two Jammu Parliamentary seats, the names of Party president Jugal Kishore Sharma, senior vice president, Chander Paraksh Ganga, Legislative Party leader Ashok Khajuria, incharge of Party Cells Sat Sharma (CA) and young leader and Party's publicity secretary Aseem Gupta's name is making rounds. For Udhampur Lok Sabha seat the name of Party National Executive member and state chief spokesman Dr Jitendra Singh and former president and National Executive member, Dr Nirmal Singha re making rounds. Sources said while four senior BJP leaders including Jugal Kishroe Sharma, Ashok Khajuria, CP Ganga and Sat Sharma are being discussed by Party High Command, the young leader Aseem Gupta has also emerged as a probable candidate. Gupta is in he good books of some senior leaders at New Delhi and hence they can't ignore him. Sources said for Udnampur-Kathua Parliamentary seat Dr Jitendra Singh with his soft and clean public image is also becoming a favourite choice in the Party along with Dr Nirmal Singh Who has earlier contested Lok Sabha elections unsuccessfully three times and Assembly election one time. However the Party after seeking a complete feedback from State leadership about the probable candidates will give its nod to the final names. |
