| HBET organizes scholarship distribution programme | | |  early times report
Jammu, Sept 10: Over 100 children attended the scholarship distribution programme of the Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) on the second day of the camp.
The HBET is supporting education for the girl child in rural areas of Jammu region. Commissioner Income Tax J&K A K Thatai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He was briefed about the mentorship and medical support programmes run by the Trust for all round support of the children.
Thatai praised the efforts of the Trust in not only helping the cause of education but also helping society at large to empower women. He told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the trust.
The Trust, which has a mission to change lives of needy children through literacy support programmes, has been providing scholarships and conducting various other child welfare schemes for the past 16 years. Over 89 percent children are from rural areas.
A total of 450 children will receive scholarships in the six day camp being held by the Trust.
