| Omar gheraoed, rescued by police | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 26: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who went to Samba and Hiranagar after the culmination of the encounter had a tough time as his cavalcade was gheraoed by hundreds of people of the area including Youva Morcha Karyakarta. As per reports, Omar was returning from the police station Hiranagar where militants attacked and killed four police officers when a crowd led by Ravinder Raina, leader of Yuva Morcha gheraoed his cavalcade at Girdhari Lal Dogra Chowk. They shouted slogans against NC led coalition government for its failure to secure the lives of the people. However, timely action by police rescued him. Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, National Conference legislator Devender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary (Home) Suresh Kumar, DGP Ashok Prasad and various other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister. Earlier, Omar met family members of the security personnel killed in Thursday's twin militant attack in Jammu region and shared their grief, besides paying tribute to the martyrs. |
