Ramnagar, Oct 27: A colourful function was organised at Rani Park, Ramnagar, with distribution of sweets, dancing, rejoicing, singing of cultural songs, reciting of national anthem and then culminating into unfurling of national tricolour by R. S. Pathania, general secretary, J&K Pradesh Youth Congress. It was followed by a thought-provoking and scintillating address by Pathania who delved upon various historical and legal/constitutional aspects associated with the accession of J&K with rest of India, sixty-six years ago. The instrument of accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh was the same as was signed by other Princely States. And the decision of Maharaja was unanimously ratified and approved by the elected Constituent/Legislative Assembly of the State, under the leadership of Sheikh Abdullah, while adopting a resolution and enacting Constitution of J&K which unequivocally declares J & K as integral part of India. And a bare reading of Articles 3, Article 5 and Article 147 of J&K Constitution reflects that J&K is an integral part of India. The accession has later been turned into a irreversible merger through the medium of Article 147 of Constitution. Articles 3 & 5 of J&K Constitution say that J&K is and shall remain permanent part of India. And Article 147 makes Articles 3 & 5 of J&K Constitution outside the legislative power of 'amendment'. And all talks pivoting around questioning the merger of J&K with rest of the country are not only non-sense but anti-national. Whereas, act remains that Sheikh Abdullah had played a pivotal role in creating opinion and pressure for J&K's merger with India. And biggest irony is that his progenies basking and breeding with fullest political power in J&K, under Shiekh's political legacy, are the first to question the permanency of J&K accession/merger with India. The speakers demanded that 'Accession Day' should be celebrated just like 'Diwali', 'Eid', 'Gurpurav' and 'Christmas'. Rather government should treat this day as a 'National Festival' and people cutting across party lines should celebrate this day as a joint festival. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Jagmohan sarpanch, Pradip Gupta, Block President Congress Seva Dal, Joginder Bangathia, senior Congress leader and President Beopar Mandal, Vinu Jamwal (Incharge Ramnagar Youth Congress), Rahul, Shamsher, Anil Atri, Baldev Mast Ram, Nanti panch, Tilak Raj, Mulkh Raj, Dev Singh, Ashok, Darpan, Balbir Singh, Rajesh, Rohit and a wide galaxy of local leaders. |
