| NC, Congress have nothing to sell in 2014 elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 27: As elections draw nearer, the ruling coalition partners have failed to fulfill their election promises. National Conference (NC) had promised to strive for restoration of autonomy and Congress sold de-limitation to gullible voters in Jammu region. However, both the parties have failed even to put forth their demands. The coalition partners, on the contrary are engaged in a verbal dual and wooing influential persons to join them. This has increased the bitterness between them. A prominent member of NC and former advisor to NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Aslam Goni joined Congress recently. His exit has almost orphaned NC in Bhaderwah constituency. To avenge this, the NC, it has been reliably learnt, is wooing a senior and influential leader of the Congress from Jammu region. The Ministers belonging to Congress and the NC only added to the woes of their respective parties by remaining confined to their cozy chambers. They came out to attend political functions or when needed to lay foundation stones of various projects. While, Congress could have easily raised the delimitation issue, the NC, it is believed was told by New Delhi to forget about it. Insiders say that Omar was allowed to continue in lieu of his promise to abandon the autonomy demand. Interestingly both the parties claim to emerge as single largest party in the 2014 elections, but the reports from the ground is very discouraging. Both the parties are expected to face tough moments during electioneering. |
