| Third murder in Rajouri town; police clueless, commoners scared | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 27: After third cold blooded murder under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station in the month of October, inhabitants of city are in deep shock and concerned about their safety.
Criminals once again succeeded in dodging the police and in keeping the body of the deceased inside the rocks on the bank of river near ever busy Abdullaha Bridge in the heart of city. It was the same area from where a 7-year-old school boy Shalik Hussain was kidnapped on October 7 and was killed before calling the parents for ransom.
According to evidences collected by the police from the spot indicate that the man was first murdered at some other place and was later kept on the spot and not less than 3-4 persons were involved in this possible murder. At about 4.30 pm some children taking bath in the river saw the body lying inside big boulders on the bank of river.
They informed some persons working at the site of nearby under Construction Bridge. Later, police was informed by the people and a police party headed by Ayaz Sheikh, DSP operations along with police party rushed to the spot and brought the body to hospital. Police has recovered a mobile phone and an Election Commission identity card identifying the deceased as Tanveer Khan son of Mohd Sharief Khan resident of Gursai (Mendhar) in Poonch district.
Some persons in the hospital identified the deceased as Imitiaz Khan brother of Tanveer Khan whose identity card was recovered from the deceased. Reliable sources said that Tanveer Khan is presently in Saudi Arabia. Sources added that the body bears no visible marks of injuries in case the deceased had fallen from the road side and in case he had fallen from the road side, about more than 30 meters height, the body can't reach the spot inside the rocks.
Doctors after physical examination of the body were of the view that the deceased was killed about 2 days ago and have some marks with blood clots on the face could be caused due to insects bites. Police after identification of the deceased have informed his family members and has kept the body in the mortuary.
Despite repeated attempts, no senior police officer including DIG and SSP responded to phone calls. On October 7, Shalik Hussain student of 2nd class in Valley View Army Public school (VVAPS) was first kidnapped for ransom and next day his body was found kept in a bag. A couple identified as Imtiaz and his wife were later arrested by the police who admitted the crime.
On October 11, body of Omar Rehman, 8th class student resident of village Palma was found hanging with a tree near village Kotdhara under Rajouri police station. Omar on October,10 had gone to meet his uncle and while on way back to home was allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified persons and later was found hanging with a tree. The police failed to solve murder mystery of Omar and parents have threatened to kill themselves if police failed to arrest criminals of their only son before Friday.
Despite repeated attempts by the correspondent no senior police officer including DIG, SSP responded to phone calls for the official version related to third murder this month. |
