| Yet another success against militants, JeM operative arrested from Baramulla | | | Jehangir Rashid
SRINAGAR, Oct 27: Carrying out their operations against militants and their operatives across Kashmir valley police and security forces achieved yet another success by arresting an operative of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) from North Kashmir's Baramulla district.Srinagar based defence spokesman said that the arrested operative identified as Javaid Ahmad Dar resident of Khanpora-Baramulla was assigned the mission of carrying out target killings of security forces personnel in different areas of Baramulla district. The spokesman said the arrest has ensured that militant elements would not be able to revive their operations in the Baramulla district. "Inputs were received through army sources about the activities of a suspected militant who was making desperate attempts to procure a weapon, allegedly for executing the task of target killing as a pre-requisite for recruitment into one of the militant organizations. On October 25, an intercept was received, revealing his efforts to procure a weapon," said the spokesman. The spokesman said that again on October 26, another intercept indicating that the operative was going to Sopore to collect the weapon and would return to Baramulla was received by Army intelligence. He said accordingly operations were launched by the army unit along with Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel of Jammu & Kashmir from Baramulla."The individual on seeing the joint party attempted to escape; however, he was overpowered in a short time. One 7.62 mm Chinese Pistol, one magazine and 10 rounds were recovered from him. He has been identified as Javaid Ahmed Dar S/o Late Mohammed Akbar Dar resident of Khanpora, Baramulla. He has been arrested thrice in the past for instigating law and order problems in his home district'" said the spokesman. Meanwhile a police spokesman said that in a breakthrough in anti-militant operations, Baramulla Police along with 46 RR thwarted the designs of Jaish-e-Muhammad of reviving its operations in Baramulla, by arresting an operative who was member of a Jaish module. The spokesman said that on specific information, Baramulla police along with 46 RR launched a joint operation and arrested one Javaid Ahmad Dar son of late Mohammad Akber Dar resident of Khanpora, Baramulla. One Pistol, a magazine and 10 rounds were recovered from him, the spokesman added.The spokesman said that Javaid was recently assigned a key role by local Jaish commanders for reviving militancy in and around Baramulla town. FIR number 366/13 under section 7/25 Arms Act has been registered in the regard and further investigations are on. |
