Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 27: Amid the festival revelry going on , Jammu is witnessing hectic preparations with major political parties for the visit of tallest dignitaries. While Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive on two day visit to state capitals beginning November 6, BJP is upbeat about the upcoming visit of a stalwart of no less stature, Narindra Modi, whose visit, though tentatively is indicated in the month of December to Jammu. The visit of both the big guns on one will generate the political heat in the winter capital which shall have Durbar already shifted by that time.
According to sources, in the ongoing Modi's BJP mobilizing campaign set rolling by the party's Prime Ministerial candidate across the country, Jammu has also been listed in the schedule of his forthcoming visits . Though date has yet to be finalized, party sources say it is sometime in the month of December , and the gap will also provide sufficient time for the local leadership to make preparations to make it a grand political show , which is expected by the party leadership to meet and match the standards of the rallies seen over the past some time in different parts of the country. Sources said though it is huge and burgeoning task before the state unit to make arrangements in terms of making it a show of strength to give a beating to its rival Congress in Jammu region, the cadres and die hard supporters are buoyant with the news of Modi visiting Jammu which they feel will go a long way in setting momentum within the party for taking to poll mode. How and when things get started in the party, however, remains to be seen.
As for Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit, Congress is already in upbeat mood and preparations have already begun in the camp of the Panchayat members whom the iconic leader is coming to address. Though the prime target audience would be the Panches and Sarpanches, the entire PCC hierarchy has engaged itself in making the show successful in both the capital cities Jammu and Srinagar which Rahul Gandhi has chosen to visit. According to party sources, even as Rahul Gandhi's visit would raise the morale of his party men, but the primary purpose and motive of his visit is to put his weight behind demand for incorporation of 73rd amendment into State's Panchayati Raj Act, on which the ally running the coalition government National Conference is not willing to budge, Though Congress has tried umpteenth times, on the forum of the Coordination Committee meeting get this issue settled amicably, NC has been dithering and wavering over the demand and avoiding every time with false assurances. It however, remains to be seen what new twist Rahul Gandhi gives to this pending issue when he comes to reach out to PR members.
