Adult education scheme: A nonstarter in Doda

Doda, Oct 27: Shakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) was started in 2009 by Union govt to make the adult people of the country to get literate by opening Adult Education Centre at every Panchayat of the Distt.
This programme started its functioning in Distt Doda from 2011 and in August 2011, the Department conducted a successful exam of 5000 illiterate peoples of the Distt in different Panchayats of the Distt Doda.
In August 2012 too about 5900 peoples appeared in the examination but this year in 2013, the department remained failure in conducting the exam and also the certificates which are equivalent to Class III were given to people still has not been distributed by the Deptt. which was to be given by National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
This Deptt has remained failure to open Centers in every Panchayat of Distt Doda. Over 462 such types of centers were to open in 231 Panchayats of Distt Doda.
The purpose of the centers was to provide the books and other related documents to the peoples who are enrolled and to provide the necessary information through these centers. Also through these centers vocational training in 170 different trades was to given the every people who are illiterate in every Panchayat.
One of the resident of Doda Nizam Din said that, this scheme in Distt Doda is only for name and none of the adult has taken benefit".
He also said that the Deptt conducted the exam once but after that none of the officer or employee has shown his/her face to the public.
Another resident of Doda Neelu Devi said that the Deptt has taken our exam but still the certificates has not been provided.
The failure of the scheme has raised number of questions on administration and Govt. Vocational Training in 170 different trades was to be given and 462 centres was to open under the Scheme in the Distt but the Administration and Govt has remained failure to do so.
